Ecuador, July 14, 2022 - National and international sportsmen and women will participate in the nineteenth edition of the adventure competition Huairasinchi Imptek 2022 which will take place from Saturday July 23, in the city of Tena and the province of Napo.
To officially kick off this competition, Imptek, the official sponsor of the race, invited the media to live an adventure experience at a social club on the outskirts of Quito. The event was attended by the Minister of Sports, Sebastian Palacios. Among the disciplines that are part of the competition are: trekking, packraft, mountain biking, fixed ropes and kayaking; crossing the jungle, lakes and rivers of the Amazon of Ecuador.
Huairasinchi was born in 2003 and positioned itself as an adventure competition, which today has the largest number of editions in the history of this discipline being Ecuador pioneer in its organization; annually travels through remote and iconic places of the country for its nature, its people and its culture. "Imptek is proud to sponsor the best adventure race in Ecuador. We see an important synergy between sports planning before entering a race like this and strategic planning at the corporate level, where we always seek to be the best. This year will be no exception, as it will be one of the most special editions in history, as it will be a "lowlands" experience, which will not exceed 1500 meters above sea level," said Juan Pablo Sotomayor, general manager of Imptek - Chova del Ecuador.
Competitors will have two categories divided into:
ARWS Expedition 340km from 65 to 90 hours
3 stages of Trekking - Packraft
3 mountain bike stages
2 trekking stages
1 string stage
ARWS Adventure 150 km from 23 to 30 hours
1 kayak stage
1 trekking stage
1 mountain bike stage
One of the novelties is that this year the Adventure category will be part of the South American regional circuit ARWS 2022 (The World Adventure Racing Circuit) and it will be the first time that points will be awarded for the ranking in this category in Huairasinchi. Also, the winning team in the MIXED category will have a free and guaranteed place to participate in the South American final in Paraguay in early 2023.
Under the concept "If the weather challenges you, Imptek protects you", the official presentation of the "New Imptek 2022 skin" clothing was held, which will be used by the Life Adventure Team (LAT) and other elite athletes such as Joaquín López (ultratrail runner) who are brand ambassadors. The garments are designs of the company Shamuna, a brand of Ecuadorian creators who are inspired by urban lifestyles, art and nature. On this day there will be sports activities to live the experience of the competition, led by Proyecto Aventura and representatives of Life Adventure Team (LAT).
