Ecuador, August 2022. - In recent days, the awards ceremony was held for national and international athletes who challenged the limits in the 20th Edition of the Huairasinchi Imptek 2023. This daring adventure competition traveled through the natural landscapes of the majestic Andean Choco, taking participants to remote places of Ecuador, in a unique experience, full of emotions and overcoming.
The athletes competed in three disciplines. They began the journey with 273 km on mountain bikes, facing challenging terrain and extreme elevations. They then hiked 71 km, taking on rugged and scenic trails, and finally paddled 21 km on wild rivers, demonstrating their prowess in turbulent waters.
Santiago Lopez, director of Huairasinchi Imptek 2023, said that "this competition has not only proven to be challenging and exciting, but has allowed athletes to strengthen their connection with nature and leave a lasting mark in the history of Ecuadorian sport, in addition to having the opportunity to be participants in the world adventure ARWC 2024 to be held in Ecuador ".
During the Huairasinchi Imptek 2023, the teams demonstrated exceptional endurance and determination, pushing their potential to the maximum. Chispitas Team, composed of Pedro Cruz, Ramiro Jácome, Ana Vacas and Francisco Burneo, were the winners of the Adventure category, who obtained a direct quota for the regional championship to be held in Brazil later this year.
Andes Racing completed the feat in 47 hours and 55 minutes, taking first place in the Expedition category, earning a place in the ARWC Adventure Racing World Cup in South Africa in October 2023. Meanwhile, Life Adventure Team, integrated by Francisco Pinto, Gonzalo Calisto, Xavier Chiriboga and Tania Diaz, stood out for their participation, obtaining the second place in the same category, with a time of 51 hours and 44 minutes. Finally, Gymcity Ar showed its perseverance, with a time of 53 hours and 33 minutes, placing third.
"For more than five years, we have forged a strong bond with Ecuadorian sports, promoting a healthy lifestyle and giving athletes the opportunity to leave an indelible mark in the history of this emblematic competition," said Juan Pablo Sotomayor, Imptek's general manager.
Next year promises an edition full of challenges and emotions, where teams will face the grandeur of the Ecuadorian landscapes and seek to inscribe their names in the history of Huairasinchi with the support of Imptek, a company committed to the Ecuadorian sport.
