Eliminate water leaks in your home yourself

Imptek, an SRS Group company, receives certification as "A Great Place to Work" for the second consecutive year in Ecuador.
February 23, 2023Waterproofing in homes close to the sea is vital due to the constant exposure to humidity and corrosive effects of the sea's salinity.
Moisture in the air and water spray can penetrate building materials and cause long-term damage. In addition, waves and high tides can cause flooding and increase the risk of erosion of the house's foundation.
By sealing the surfaces with a waterproofing, you prevent water from entering the building, so when doing so you should take into account using products specifically designed to resist corrosion caused by salinity - Superacryl or asphalt sheets such as Chova or Superk from Imptek - and apply them to the foundations, slabs between floors of bathrooms or roofs at the time of construction.
Before using Superacryl, elastomeric waterproofing paint, the surface where it is to be applied must be thoroughly cleaned, dry and free of dust or grease and follow the following process:
- prepare the surface with SUPERACRYL primer.
- Once the primer has dried (30 minutes), apply a thick coat of pure SUPERACRYL by brush or roller (0.5 kg per square meter),
- When the first coat is dry (2 to 4 hours) apply the next thick coat of pure SUPERACRYL in the other direction and let it dry.
Humidity in the coastal region is generally higher than in the sierra region, which may require the application of a greater number of layers of material to ensure an adequate moisture barrier. If you are looking for a more durable result over time, a reinforcing mesh can also be included in the process; we recommend that this work be done by qualified technical personnel such as our technical partners or Imptek experts.
