IMPTEK CELEBRATES THE 36TH ANNIVERSARY OF ITS HOLDING COMPANY, GRUPO EMPRESARIAL SRS.
October 28, 2022
NON STOP IMPTEK 2022 will take place this November 19.
November 10, 2022Chova del Ecuador S.A., represented by its commercial brand IMPTEK - experts in waterproofing, completed in August a strict audit process to successfully receive the UL - Underwriters Laboratories Certification, being the first Ecuadorian company to achieve this endorsement in the category "Roofing Sytems" or its translation into Spanish "Sistemas para Cubiertas". UL certification is a technical examination dedicated to reducing the risk of damage to buildings. It requires that the quality of products be maintained over time and, as a consequence, that safety for occupants prevail. This new milestone is part of the objectives of the company, with more than 40 years of experience, in promoting the commercialization of national products with added value abroad,
Throughout the year, the climate in the United States is characterized by climatic variations, with very cold winters and hot summers, in addition to withstanding natural phenomena such as hurricanes and tornadoes that cause severe damage to buildings, especially roofs, rooftops and terraces. This situation requires citizens to change roofs more frequently, as is the case in the state of Florida, which is an area very prone to withstand the destruction caused by natural disasters and therefore requires quality standards for all building materials on the market.
Imptek obtained certification for 3 construction systems using 14 commercial brands synthesized in 7 products distributed in: 5 asphalt mantles with 10 commercial brands and 2 liquid asphalt primers with 4 commercial brands; which provide customers with the security of maintaining a roof that resists natural disasters such as extreme weather changes.
The specialized waterproofing expert company with a track record in the domestic market and 20 years exporting its products, received positive feedback during the product testing process. Generally, companies require several tests and shipments of materials in order to achieve the required averages; however, Imptek's products demonstrated high quality by meeting expectations in the first test.
Juan Pablo Sotomayor, Imptek's general manager applauded this great effort of his team in achieving the certification and showed his confidence with this next big step that the company will take from the beginning of 2023; "This has been a goal for a couple of years, but now we are ready. We will enter the U.S. market with the best product, a good commercial and logistics team that will allow us to supply the waterproofing needs."
This certification process began in October 2021, and was an extensive and demanding path that had several stages, including: remotely supervised testing, analysis phase at UL's laboratories located in Northbrook, Chicago; receipt of results, and finally the inspection phase at Imptek's industrial plant in Quito.
Sandra Villacís - innovation, quality and development manager - who has led this project from the Imptek Research Center (CIMI) expressed the satisfaction of being at the level of more developed economies and of reaching this achievement through constant investment in innovation and technology.
In addition, the chemical professional explained that UL certification is not permanent and requires maintaining the quality and production processes already approved; therefore, UL's technical team makes 4 unplanned and unannounced visits per year, and evaluates all the company's production areas.
