Quito, xxxxx 2023.- Sandra Villacís, chemical engineer and manager of innovation, development and quality of Imptek represented Ecuador at the twenty-first edition of the Ibero-Latin American Asphalt Congress (CILA) in Uruguay with two investigations of high scientific content and innovation related to the improvement of Ecuadorian asphalt with the aim of increasing its useful life time. His first research focused on the use of adhesion promoters and their influence on the chemical composition and performance of Ecuadorian asphalt.
Imptek is an Ecuadorian company specialized in waterproofing, road and light construction that has promoted strategic studies of the industry for the benefit of the country. Therefore, its participation was key in the CILA, one of the most important international congresses in the road sector and specifically related to asphalt, which is established as an open space for technological exchange, scientific monitoring and innovation in terms of products, techniques and procedures for road construction.
"This type of international meetings are very enriching learning spaces to share the main milestones, figures and global research in the road sector, which allow us to share experiences and asphalt knowledge to contribute to the growth of the industry and improvement of roads and roads in the continent," said Villacís, a professional with more than 15 years of experience, who leads the Imptek laboratory or Imptek Research and Materials Center (CIMI) - the only laboratory in the country that has the highest technology for research of asphalt and other raw materials.
In her second intervention, the engineer also stood out with a presentation on the study of the thermo-mechanical and rheological properties of highly modified asphalts with SBS, which was applauded and highly valued by international colleagues.
Keynote, technical and commercial conferences, the presentation of 246 research papers by professionals from 23 countries from the four continents and the exhibition of industrial machinery were the highlights of the event in Punta del Este, Uruguay. The South American country was chosen on this occasion to host the congress because in the last 10 years Uruguay has become a reference in road engineering, incorporating the most advanced technology in construction, besides being the Latin American nation with the highest number of kilometers of roads per inhabitant.
