Does sustainable construction cost more?
September 23, 2025Saint-Gobain Imptek, a leading company in waterproofing, light construction and roadway solutions, strengthens its value offer for the construction sector with the incorporation of IMPAC products. A Mexican brand, also part of the group, specialized in liquid waterproofing.
IMPAC offers waterproofing solutions with acrylic-based liquid products, acrylic/silicone and acrylic/polyurethane hybrid products, as well as a line of rigid and flexible cement-based waterproofing products. This new product portfolio complements the waterproofing systems offered by the company together with the asphalt membranes where Imptek produces locally and is a leader with a 45-year track record. In this way, the company enhances its portfolio of waterproofing systems to fully protect all types of constructions.
Sebastián Prado, manager of Saint-Gobain Imptek's waterproofing business unit, explains that this incorporation is part of a global strategy. "IMPAC already had a presence in Ecuador, but now Imptek will be in charge of its commercialization, with the objective of integrating the work between the different units and brands that make up the Saint-Gobain group under a single company in each country."
IMPAC 3000, 5000 and 7000 products, recognized for their effectiveness in waterproofing, are currently marketed in Ecuador. Other specialized solutions that expand the brand's portfolio are added to this offer:
- IMPAC Seal: ideal for details and finishes in waterproof systems.
- IMPAC Plastic Cement: specific solutions for cisterns, water containers and wet rooms, where asphalt membranes are not suitable.
- IMPAC X-Terior Total (acrylic-polyurethane)
- IMPAC Mesh (single and superior reinforcement): structural complements that improve the resistance of waterproofing systems.
It should be noted that IMPAC's solutions, in addition to Imptek's, contribute to greater energy efficiency and lower environmental impact. For example, for areas of the country such as the coast, where liquid waterproofing and heat predominate, there are alternatives with high reflectivity (white colors), which also reduce indoor heat, thus reducing the use of energy for air conditioning. On the other hand, hybrid technologies have a longer useful life, which means they do not require continuous reapplication, resulting in a smaller carbon footprint.
With this entry, Saint-Gobain Imptek complements its traditional portfolio, offering more complete, sustainable solutions adapted to various uses in construction, insulation and roadways.
